Do we have to legalize Cannabis? Is smoking a joint as dangerous as everyone says? Or should it be a positive thing? Let’s try to understand the answer in the following lines. There are many ways of thinking about this argument, but many people observed that there are more positive opinions than negative ones.
Why not? Which are the arguments that should not premise the legalization? They are few, let’s see them. The legalization should promote the development of dangerous habits, even if lot of people has the habits to use Marijuana now a day: in fact in Italy 4 millions of people on 60,8 millions smokes weed. It’s even proved that this drug increases the probability to acquire dangerous illnesses as cancer or less dangerous ones as nausea, vomiting, anorexia, cachexia and spasticity. These last ones are illnesses/effects stabilized by scientific studies, apart from cancer, because the researches are being conduced yet. Then there are other effects but less serious as allergies, inflammation, infections, epilepsy, depression, bipolar disorders, etc. For example the actor Michael J. Fox used a lot of drugs among which weed; now a day he is fighting the hardest battle of his life versus the heaviest and most destructive illness that causes tremors, rigidity, slowness in movements and difficulties of various kinds: the Parkinson, that almost certainly was contracted by him due to the drugs. Then there is the last but not less important argument against the legalization that correspond to a possible profitable deal for mafia associations that control an important percentage of the distribution of the drugs in Italy.
Why yes? Now let’s go to the arguments that agree with the legalization… The first one is the greater control of the distribution and so the percentage of minors smokers of cannabis would be lower. Than there is the most discussed argument: cannabis as therapeutic purpose. They say that the cannabis helps to leave the habits of smoking cigarettes or drinking alcohol, they say that it could be a benefit after a chemotherapy treatment to, but all this hasn’t totally been ascertained yet. The legalization could be seen as contrast versus the many criminal associations that work on the distribution of the drugs. An other argument that agree with the legalization is the born of an economic sector that now a day in Italy doesn’t exist yet. The legalization could be a benefit even because it would lead our state to have an annual source of income that reaches about 10 billion euros.
